"I Wonder When He Comes Again ..." (Children's Songbook, 82)
GOAL: Be Ready - ready to sing! Isaiah 24:14
“God never leaves us alone, never leaves us unaided in the challenges that we face. '[N]or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or there shall be one man [or woman or child] upon the face thereof to be saved (Moroni 7:36).' On occasions, global or personal, we may feel we are distanced from God, shut out from heaven, lost, alone in dark and dreary places. Often enough that distress can be of our own making, but even then the Father of us all is watching and assisting. And always there are those angels who come and go all around us, seen and unseen, known and unknown, mortal and immortal.”

2. "Lest we at any time feel inadequate for the tasks ahead . . . may I share with you a statement made in 1987 by then-Church President Ezra Taft Benson . . . Said President Benson:
“'In all ages, prophets have looked down through the corridors of time to our day. Billions of the deceased and those yet to be born have their eyes on us. Make no mistake about it—you are a marked generation. …
“'For nearly six thousand years, God has held you in reserve to make your appearance in the final days before the second coming of the Lord. Some individuals will fall away, but the kingdom of God will remain intact to welcome the return of its Head—even Jesus Christ.
“'While this generation will be comparable in wickedness to the days of Noah, when the Lord cleansed the earth by flood, there is a major difference this time: [it is that] God has saved for the final inning some of His strongest … children, who will help bear off the kingdom triumphantly.'”
Ezra Taft Benson, “In His Steps” (Church Educational System fireside, Feb. 8, 1987); see also “In His Steps,” in 1979 Devotional Speeches of the Year: BYU Devotional and Fireside Addresses (1980), 59.
". . . We represent some of His strongest children. Ours is the responsibility to be worthy of all the glorious blessings our Father in Heaven has in store for us." (My emphasis.)
PRESIDENT THOMAS S MONSON,
President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
3. As the winds of change swirl around us and the moral fiber of society continues to disintegrate before our very eyes, may we remember the Lord’s precious promise to those who trust in Him: “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10 What a promise! May such be our blessing, I sincerely pray . . . ."

4. "In April 2012, Elder Neil L Anderson taught from the October 2011 conference, "President Thomas S. Monson has described our day as moving away “from that which is spiritual … [with] the winds of change [swirling] around us and the moral fiber of society [continuing] to disintegrate before our very eyes.” (Thomas S. Monson, “Stand in Holy Places,” Liahona and Ensign,Nov. 2011, 83, 86.)
"[This] is a time of growing disbelief in and disregard for Christ and His teachings. In this turbulent environment, we rejoice in being disciples of Jesus Christ. We see the Lord’s hand all around us. Our destination is beautifully set before us. “This is life eternal,” Jesus prayed, “that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.”(John 17:3). Being a disciple in these days of destiny will be a badge of honor throughout the eternities."
“With great love and admiration for the many disciples of Jesus Christ who are not members of this Church, we humbly declare that angels have returned to the earth in our day. The Church of Jesus Christ as He established it anciently has been restored, with the power, ordinances, and blessings of heaven. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ.”

The Lord has a way of pouring pure intelligence into our minds to prompt us, to guide us, to teach us, to warn us. Each son or daughter of God can know the things they need to know instantly. 8. I suggest a formula that will ensure [your] success: first, search the scriptures with diligence; second, plan your life with purpose third, teach the truth with testimony; and fourth, serve the Lord with love.
13.. “We are living in the last days, in ‘perilous times’ (2 Timothy 3:1). . . . Bearers of the priesthood . . . have the responsibility to stand strong with a shield of faith . . . [as] role models to the world, protecting God-given, inalienable rights and freedoms. We stand in defense of our homes and our families. . . . If we are faithful in the priesthood, this armor, [the Apostle Paul taught about in Ephesians 6:13–17], will be given to us as a gift from God. We need this armor!”
“Your fathers and grandfathers never faced the temptations that you face on a regular basis. You are living in the last days. . . .Today temptation finds you! Please remember that! Satan desires to have you . . . How will you resist his aggressive tactics? Put on the whole armor of God.”
“ ‘The world has gone far afield . . . the Church will remain constant, and the world will keep moving—that gap is [becoming] wider and wider. … Therefore, be very careful. If you judge your actions and the standards of the Church on the basis of where the world is and where it’s going, you will find that you are not where you should be.’ Robert D. Hales, “This Is the Way; and There Is None Other Way,” in Brigham Young University 1981–82 Speeches (1982), 3–4; available at speeches.byu.edu. As the Lord said, ‘The truth abideth forever and ever’ (Doctrine and Covenants 1:39).”
14. “Priesthood authority, keys, and saving ordinances are again found on the earth that enable you and me to receive the joyous blessings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The heavens are not closed. God speaks to us individually and to the world through the authorized leaders of His latter-day kingdom upon the earth.”

8. I suggest a formula that will ensure [your] success: first, search the scriptures with diligence; second, plan your life with purpose third, teach the truth with testimony; and fourth, serve the Lord with love.
First: Search the Scriptures With Diligence.“Study the scriptures each day
both individually and with our families. (Alma 17:2-3)”
Second: Plan Your Life With
Purpose. “Preparation ... begins early. In addition to spiritual preparation ...
commence a ... fund, ... study a foreign language, [and maintain] worthiness.
Regardless of the location . . . (and, I might add, plan your life regardless of your age); ... the response of the prepared and obedient . . .
is the same: “I will serve.”
Third: Teach the Truth With
Testimony. The Apostle Peter urged, “Be
ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the
hope that is in you (1 Peter 3:15). Lift up your voices and testify . . .
Declare your witness . . . Convey the ... truths contained in the plan of
salvation.”
Fourth: Serve With Love. “There
is no substitute for love,” Doctrine
and Covenants 4:2, 5-6, [ & 7] “Well
might each of you ... [ask yourself]“Today, have I increased in faith, in
virtue, in knowledge, in godliness, in love? Through your dedicated devotion at
home or abroad, those souls whom you help to save may well be those whom you
love the most.”
“The challenge is to be more
profitable servants in the Lord’s vineyard. This applies to all of us, whatever our age, and not alone to those
who are preparing to serve as full-time missionaries, for to each of us comes the mandate to share the gospel of Christ.”

9. "This [180th Semi-Annual] general conference was convened at a time when there is
such confusion and such danger that our young people hardly know which way they
can walk. Having been warned through the revelations that it would be this way,
the prophets and apostles have always been shown what to do.
"The Lord revealed to the Prophet Joseph Smith “that every man
might speak in the name of God the Lord, even the Savior of the world (Doctrine
and Covenants 1:20).” When the keys were restored, they provided
priesthood authority to be present in every home through the grandfathers, the
fathers, and the sons.

10. “Today we find ourselves in another war. This is not a war of armaments. It is a war of thoughts, words, and deeds. It is a war with sin, and more than ever we need to be reminded of the commandments. 11. “We are of the house of Israel, specifically of the lineage of Joseph, bearing the birthright and charged with the irrevocable responsibility to prepare the world for the second coming of the Savior.”
12. “You live in a world where technological advances occur at an astounding pace. It is difficult for many . . . to keep up with the possibilities. Depending on how technology is used, these advances can be a blessing or a deterrent. Technology, when understood and used for righteous purposes, need not be a threat but rather an enhancement to spiritual communication.

“Be wise in how you embrace technology. Mark important scriptures on your [personal electronic] device and refer back to them frequently. If you . . . review a verse of scripture as often as some of you send text messages, you could soon have hundreds of passages of scripture memorized. Those passages would prove to be a powerful source of inspiration and guidance by the Holy Ghost in times of need.”
